This extension to a property once part of George, the fifth Earl Cadogan’s estate, was constructed in the late 1800s. Extensive and challenging discussions with planning and conservation authorities ensued, particularly regarding achieving an eaves and ridge height that met modern livability standards. To overcome this challenge and attain the necessary head height, dormers were installed alongside clever engineering solutions such as ceiling vaulting and strategic steelwork to reduce the thickness of floor joists. Flint blocks were employed to replicate the existing flintwork, while carefully selected bricks were used to seamlessly match the original property.
