Flooring Trends For 2018 – AHP Predictions

We have seen a change in flooring trends over the last few months here at AHP and have dived into what the most popular flooring trends of 2018 are. We have said goodbye to carpets and hello to newer and more industrial materials for a modern look to the everyday home.

Types of Materials

Today, there are so many different materials to choose from outside of the traditional options. Flooring is certainly far more exciting than it ever has been before!

Materials range from:

Eco friendly products

Waterproof vinyl

Waterproof carpets

Waterproof laminates

Reclaimed wood

Bespoke tiles

Concerete

Colours

Whites and greys are certainly the main colour focus for flooring trends of 2018. These colours make rooms look more open and brighter, which is a huge plus for those looking to add some light into their home. But don’t be mistaken, the tonal range within these two categories is huge and includes colours such as blondes, honey and lighter pine.

Textures

In 2017 we saw a lot of smooth wooden floors, but for 2018 we are predicting an increase in the use of reclaimed textured wood to make the floor look bespoke and industrial.

Textures such as:

Hand scraped wood

Wire brushed flooring

Distressed wood

Reclaimed wood

Looks

Carpet doesn’t seem to be as popular in 2018 as it was in 2017 due to the ever increasing lean towards the industrial trend. People are opting for more cutting edge flooring types such as stone and concrete and well as wood to create this modern look for different areas of the home.

Looks such as:

Textured concrete

Polished concrete

Textured wood

Stone

Layouts and Patterns

2018 flooring trends is all about being playful with floor patterns in your home. Using different tiling techniques to create individual patters using different materials to promote the reclaimed ethical trend.

Layouts such as:

Parquet wooden flooring

Geometric tiling

Different textures of wood mixed together.
